Climate Change Coalition

Battle Creek Environmental Survey

In the spring of 2009, the Climate Change Coalition, in conjunction with the City of Battle Creek and the Calhoun County Solid Waste Department, conducted an Environmental Survey. The survey was conducted in order to understand the awareness and perceptions of environmental issues that exist in the greater Battle Creek area.

A number of respondents stated they do reduce, reuse, or recycle. The awareness level of the importance of protecting groundwater and surface water of respondents was significant. Many who took the survey were aware of climate change and were aware of ways to conserve energy.

Improving the awareness and perceptions of citizens about local environmental issues is critical for all who make their homes in the greater Battle Creek Area. Several groups are actively working to ensure the protection of our local environment. The
Battle Creek Area Clean Water Partners are focused on protecting the water resources of our area and working to restore the wildlife habitats and recreational uses of our rivers and lakes.  Contact the Partners at 269-781-9841, extension 241 for ways you can protect the local environment.

Please join the Climate Change Coalition, the Battle Creek Area Clean Water Partners, and the Calhoun County Solid Waste Department in their efforts.
